Welcome to the Tutorials Section at the Georgetown Atelier
The following tutorials in this section of the website are keynote ’slices’ of our curriculum that I’ve put into step-by-step narratives. The tutorials labeled with a number (1-6) are a series that follow the process of developing a figure drawing with limited color temperature relationships (black, brown, red, and white chalk). Within this tutorial series, the following major subjects are introduced:
-Color Temperature Relationships
-Drawing Materials
-The Block-In Process
-The Rendering Process
The two proceeding tutorials, Limited Palette Monochromatic Paint Study, and Limited Palette Portrait Paint Painting rely upon a familiarization of concepts and terms introduced in the above tutorials. If you are already comfortable with these concepts and terms (have taken classes with me or similar), feel free to bounce around between the tutorials. Otherwise it is preferable to work with them in a more linear fashion.
I hope you find them helpful!
Cheers,
